Connecting the dots between obesity, diabetes and insulin resistance has revealed unexpected associations with localized immune function in adipose tissue. How the immune system, including subtypes of macrophages and other immune cells, promote a pro-inflammatory environment contributing to the onset and progression of metabolic disorders remains an important area of mechanistic insight. This session will highlight how nutrition specific interventions offer promise for promoting a healthy immune response in the fight against obesity and related metabolic diseases.
